Firefighters at the Reston Fire Station on Wiehle Avenue were met with a different kind of task this morning (Tuesday).
A crew of fire fighters helped deliver a baby around 8:30 a.m. today. According to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, the parents were on their way to the hospital, but the baby simply could not wait.
The car pulled up in the station’s parking lot, and everything was history after that point. After the birth, the fire department provided transportation to the hospital, and both mom and baby are now doing well.
There is no word yet on the little human’s name.

Man Dies After Crash in Oakton — “A 78-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:01 p.m. on March 30 in Oakton. Carjacking Reported in Mount Vernon — A man was driving in the 3700 block of Rolling Hills Avenue on March 26 when four men in a brown Nissan Altima blocked his vehicle. “The men then got out of the Altima, displayed a firearm and assaulted the victim,” police say. “The men then left the area in the victim’s car. The victim was treated for injuries not considered life threatening.” [FCPD]

A passenger in one of three cars that crashed in Reston this morning (Wednesday) suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized, Fairfax County police tweeted.
Three others who were in the crash were also transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The crash completely shut down the Wiehle Avenue and Baron Cameron Avenue intersection until after noon.
“We had several motor officers on scene as well as Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives who drive unmarked vehicles,” an FCPD spokesperson told FFXnow.
