Reston Association has settled on designs for two long-awaited capital projects, unveiling final concepts for a new dock at Lake Thoreau and updated tennis courts at Lake Newport last week.

A community meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday) to discuss the proposed Lake Thoreau observation dock design. Attendees can meet RA staff at the dock, which is located near the swimming pool at 2040 Upper Lakes Drive.

The Lake Newport swimming pool should be available for Reston Association’s upcoming pool season, despite recent winter weather disrupting an ongoing renovation.

The project to “chip out” layers of plaster that have built up over the years and resurface the pool at 11601 Lake Newport Road is still on track to be completed by this summer, RA communications director Cara O’Donnell confirmed to FFXnow.

Reston Association is lowering the water levels of its lakes, starting today (Monday).

Dam repair and inspection firm Bander Smith will perform annual spillway inspections at Newport, Thoreau and Audubon lakes, requiring them to be drained by up to 8 inches. Lake Anne will be drained by 2 feet to also allow for minor concrete repairs to its riser tower.
