The City of Fairfax has high hopes for Commonwealth Brewing Co.

The Virginia Beach-based company opened its second brewery and restaurant at 10426 Main Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 28, bringing new life to a space that has been vacant since at least 2015.

Taco Zocalo has officially moved well past its days as a food truck under the name Chef on Wheels.

The Mexican restaurant is opening another location in Fairfax County. A company representative tells FFXnow that the new location is expected to open in the Lincolnia area within two to three months.

D.C.-area chef Peter Chang is set to open a Chinese restaurant in Herndon in the second half of next year, a company spokesperson tells FFXnow.

The 3,500-square-foot Peter Chang restaurant will be located at Arrowbrook Centre, which is located at 2322 Silver Arrow Way.

Kreole, a new concept that blends flavors from Creole and Asian cuisines, will open in the Merrifield neighborhood tomorrow (Tuesday) next Monday (Oct. 23) at 2985 District Avenue, Unit 115. The news was first reported by Eater DC.

(Updated at 10:35 a.m. on 10/11/2023) A fledgling hot chicken chain with ambitions of becoming “the next Chick-fil-A” is flocking to Northern Virginia, starting with the Town of Vienna.

Signs for The Red Bird recently emerged in the windows of the former McDonald’s at the Cedar Park Shopping Center, which hasn’t yet identified the new tenant on its site plan. Mickey D’s abruptly vacated the 1,353-square-foot space last summer after more than a decade there.

The eponymous restaurant from the prolific Chinese chef will open at 6715 Lowell Avenue in one week on Oct. 12.

Bitez — a restaurant that sells gyros and crepes — appears to be coming to the Village Center at Dulles in McNair.

According to the property owner’s website, the business is slated to open at 2443 Centreville Road in the former location of Tava Fry.

On track to open in late October next to Quickway, The Casual Pint (2676 Avenir Place, Unit F) is envisioned as a family-friendly gathering spot, where community members of all ages can relax even as adults 21 and older savor a range of craft beers and wine — and yes, the brews will come in pints.

Another fast food option will soon be open in Great Falls.

Jersey Mike’s Subs is slated to open in at Seneca Corner (1024 Seneca Road) tomorrow (Sept. 23). The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
