The annual Gardens of Note tour returns this year to Reston (via Reston Chorale)

A local event will allow patrons to get a peek of the sights, sounds and fragrances of five private gardens.

The annual Reston Gardens of Note returns this year with self-guided tours on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A garden party hosted by Hidden Lane Residential Landscapes is planned after the tour from 3-5 p.m. Members of the Reston Chorale will be on site to perform a variety of musical styles.

The chorale is a mixed-voice chorus that was established more than 50 years ago to provide the area with performances produced by amateur and professional musicians in the community.

Here’s more from event organizers on the gardens that are a part of the tour:

Explore a meandering dry creek that transforms runoff from a neighboring property into a source of water for a lush rain garden edged with ferns, shade grasses, and irises.

Follow rolling berms populated by conifers, azaleas, and perennials.  Enjoy tranquil spaces for rest and reflection, whether on a wooden bench nestled among blooming plants or on a lakeside patio where you may feel a gentle breeze and take in the sights and sounds of aquatic birds.

Draw in close to native and exotic perennials, shrubs, and trees in landscapes that attract beneficial insects and birds.  Look for utilitarian features that combine beauty and function, such as stone steps, flagstone walkways, a stable path made of river stone pounded into a stone-dust base, or a heated pavilion with a grill, granite counter, and comfortable seating with an entertainment system where friends and family can gather in all seasons.

Tickets can be purchased in person at Chesapeake Chocolates or online. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event.

The event is presented by The Reston Chorale in partnership with Reston Garden Club and Hidden Lane Residential Landscapes. All proceeds benefit the chorale and Reston Garden Club.
