Truck Fire Shuts Down I-95 South — “Saturday around 4:30 p.m., units were dispatched for a Truck Fire on I-95 South at Mile Marker 161. Multiple Vehicles on fire being transported by 18-Wheeler Vehicle Carrier, located in local lanes. Multiple Lanes were shutdown in southbound lanes. No reported injuries.” [FCFRD/Twitter]

BB Gun Drawn in Reston Over Smoking Confrontation — A security guard was surrounded by 10 juveniles outside a business in the 11900 block of Market Street on May 31 after telling them that smoking was not allowed there. One of the juveniles displayed a handgun that police later determined was “a replica style Glock BB gun.” No injuries were reported, but police intend to seek petitions for charges. [FCPD]

Master plan underway for Reston Town Center North redevelopment

Various pieces to redevelop land at the intersection of Bowman Towne Drive and Town Center Parkway — known as Reston Town Center North — are moving along as Fairfax County seeks applications for the project.

Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn directed staff at a Board of Supervisors meeting yesterday (Tuesday) to conduct a master plan study for the county-owned land in RTC North.

EXCLUSIVE: Immersive indoor golfing experience is coming to Reston Town Center

A new kind of golfing experience is coming soon to the town center (Photo via CitySwing).

CitySwing, a golf facility designed for people of all skill levels, plans to open at Reston Town Center in the first quarter of next year.

The facility at 11897 Market Street will be the company’s second, joining a site in D.C.

Bidding adieu to Reston Town Center, Clyde’s prepares to unveil next course

Clyde’s of Reston, an American bar and restaurant, will permanently close its doors tomorrow, ending 31 years of business in Reston Town Center.

But even as it auctions off iconic memorabilia and customers flood in for the restaurant’s final days, the company tells FFXnow that a lease at an undisclosed location in Reston for a new restaurant concept is “very close” to finalization.

Frequenters of Reston Town Center may notice new artwork in the area.

Local artist Bryan King began work yesterday (Monday) on two new murals at The Harrison at Reston Town Center. Titled “Salute to Reston,” the murals depict Reston’s skyline and the Mercury Fountain in RTC.

Reston Town Center renovations force cancellation of concert series

A popular outdoor entertainment series has been cancelled for the summer as some of Reston Town Center’s public spaces get a facelift.

Reston Concerts on the Town has been cancelled because RTC’s pavilion will not be available for events due to ongoing renovations.

Women’s clothing store Chico’s closes in Reston Town Center

Chico’s, a women’s clothing store, has officially shuttered its doors at Reston Town Center.

The business, which was located at 11910 Market Street, closed up shop last month.

Bow Tie Cinemas shutters in Reston, putting popular senior movie days on hold

Just like that, Bow Tie Cinemas has left Reston Town Center, leaving Reston Association’s longest running program in limbo.

Reston Town Center owner Boston Properties confirmed last month that the movie theater chain hadn’t renewed its lease, but no firm closure date was given, beyond that it would be sometime in May.
