(Updated at 6:35 p.m.) A driver hit three pedestrians on Herndon Parkway near the Elden Street intersection, police say.
Herndon Parkway’s outer loop is currently closed from Elden Street outside H-Mart to Summerfield Drive in response to the crash, according to the Herndon Police Department.
Updated at 3:15 p.m. — Southbound Reston Parkway has reopened at Market Street after an extended closure due to this morning’s fatal pedestrian crash, police say.

(Updated at 1:05 p.m.) Traffic on northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway is being detoured after a man was hit by a vehicle near Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) in McLean this morning (Friday).
The U.S. Park Police (USPP) says its officers responded to the area of the GW Parkway and Route 123 interchange around 8:50 a.m. for a crash that involved “a vehicle and a person on foot.”
A driver has been hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries from a three-vehicle crash in Burke.
Police officers and emergency medical services were dispatched to Fairfax County Parkway at Burke Centre Parkway around 8:53 a.m. for a crash with a trapped person, according to scanner traffic on Open MHz.
One driver was killed and another hospitalized with serious injuries in a two-car crash on Route 29 in the Clifton area early this morning (Tuesday).
A Fairfax County police officer reported at 12:25 a.m. that he “just had a vehicle roll over in front of me at the Clifton 7-Eleven,” describing an occupant as “trapped and unresponsive,” according to scanner traffic on Open MHz.
A woman suffered serious injuries earlier this evening (Monday) when she was apparently hit by a Metrobus on Little River Turnpike.
“Officers are investigating a bus crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Little River [Turnpike] and Hummer [Road] in Annandale,” the Fairfax County Police Department said. “The pedestrian, an adult female, was transported in life-threatening condition.”
Nearly a mile of Hunter Mill Road in Reston has been closed in response to an outside gas leak in a residential neighborhood.
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department says units responded around 4 p.m. to the gas leak in the 10600 block of Chamberlain Drive. Washington Gas is currently on the scene making repairs.
A man suffered critical injuries when he fell while riding a motorized scooter in Reston yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, police say.
The Fairfax County Police Department said the man fell while riding a scooter at Town Center Drive and Bowman Towne Drive. He was taken to the hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.
Herndon Parkway between Cavendish Street and Worcester Street has reopened after an overnight crash closed the road in both directions.
The crash happened around 7:25 p.m. yesterday (Monday), according to the Herndon Police Department. The roadway was reopened at 11:15 p.m.
A police pursuit of a man who reportedly attempted to abduct a woman crossed county lines before ending just outside the Town of Vienna this afternoon.
Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) is currently closed at the Flint Hill Road intersection in Oakton in the wake of the arrest, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The Town of Vienna said on Twitter at 4:30 p.m. that one southbound lane between Flint Hill and Nutley Street had opened.
