Vienna’s town council unanimously gave its blessing last night (Aug. 24) to a new AT&T rooftop telecommunications facility that could help alleviate some longstanding issues with dead zones and weak cell phone coverage.
The new facility at 527 Maple Ave East, located on top of a three-story building that includes offices for a health care provider, florist, and other businesses, will consist of three antenna arrays and surrounding screening.
With temperatures at least temporarily feeling almost autumnal, the Vienna Business Association (VBA) is already starting to hype up its upcoming Oktoberfest.
The annual festival and fundraiser for the VBA will celebrate its 15th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, bringing food, beer, artisan and business vendors, and live entertainment to the Church Street area in downtown Vienna.

First introduced last May, the health and fitness showcase will return to the Vienna Community Center (120 Cherry Street SE) on April 6, from 10 am. to 2 p.m. The event is intended to highlight health-related businesses and resources available in the local community, VBA Health, Wellness & Fitness chair Karen Kerrigan says.
