A popular Reston-based taco spot is planning to expand in Chantilly at a time when others in the restaurant industry are scaling back.

Taco Zocalo — formerly known as Chef on Wheels from its days as a food truck — will open this Friday (March 25) at 14506 Lee Road.

Chef and owner Basir Ahadi, said he is looking forward to bringing his business to Chantilly.

“We are incredibly grateful to our customers for allowing us to share our food with them and we are looking forward to meeting a new demographic in Chantilly,” Ahadi told FFXnow.

The new location is the third for the locally owned business, which switched from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar site a little over five years ago.

Since then, Taco Zocalo added a restaurant at 44927 George Washington Boulevard in Ashburn two years ago.

Ahadi, a Reston resident who graduated from South Lakes High School, launched the business in 2011.

He continues to thank Restonians for their “continued support and love.”

The Chantilly spot will serve the same menus offered by the Ashburn and Reston locations. Customers can pick from salads, tacos, chimichanga, burritos, burrito bowls and more.
