A driver who was hospitalized after crashing at the Baron Cameron Avenue and Fairfax County Parkway intersection in Reston on Monday (July 29) has died, police say.
Marjorie Fox, a 77-year-old woman from Reston, died at a hospital from life-threatening injuries she sustained in the single-vehicle crash, which occurred around 9:40 a.m., the Fairfax County Police Department announced last night (Tuesday) in a press release.
According to police, Fox was driving a 2015 Porsche 911 off of the northbound Fairfax County Parkway exit onto Baron Cameron when she “travelled across multiple traffic lanes and struck the underpass wall.”
Fox was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She appears to be the 10th person killed in a crash in Fairfax County this July, continuing a deadly month that included three fatalities in one single-vehicle crash on West Ox Road.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has recorded 25 crash fatalities in the county so far this year, but as of press time, its preliminary data only includes one of the deaths reported by police in July.
An investigation into the Baron Cameron Avenue crash is underway.
“Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors,” the FCPD said. “Detectives are investigating whether a possible medical emergency may have contributed to the crash.”
Baron Cameron Ave is now open in both directions. Detectives continue to investigate the crash. Please follow our blog, https://t.co/QsTzdpgf0U for available updates.
