A Reston man has been arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child at a store in the South Lakes Village Shopping Center.

Police officers were dispatched to the 11100 block of South Lakes Drive at 10:30 p.m. last Friday (Aug. 9) for a reported assault, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

“Officers learned a 7-year-old child and her mother were inside a store and were being followed by Arturo Elmore-Adon, 25, of Reston,” the FCPD said today (Wednesday) in a news release. “[He] touched the child inappropriately and took a picture of the child without consent.”

According to the police, the man left the area before officers arrived. The victim wasn’t injured by the assault.

Elmore-Adon was arrested on Monday (Aug. 12) and charged with aggravated sexual battery, along with the unlawful creation of an image of another person under 18.

“He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held on no bond,” the FCPD said.

The department didn’t specify the store where the alleged assault occurred in its press release. South Lakes Village Center is anchored by Safeway and CVS Pharmacy.

The FCPD announced on Aug. 30 that Elmore-Adon has also been charged with 15 counts of possession of child porn after detectives conducted “a thorough investigation” of electronic devices that belong to him.
