
A Reston man was arrested late last week for allegedly breaking into and stealing from several businesses around Fairfax City.
According to the City of Fairfax Police Department, officers were first called to Halalway International Supermarket at 4072 Jermantown Road around 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 8. Overnight, an “unknown” man had forced his way into the business and stolen money, investigators found.
Police responded to burglaries at four other businesses last Monday and Tuesday (Aug. 12-13), all of them in or near the Lowe’s shopping center on Jermantown Road:
On August 12, 2024 at approximately 3:34 a.m. City of Fairfax Police responded for an alarm at 11175 Lee Highway (Shell Gas Station). Investigation revealed that an unknown male attempted to force entry into the business causing damage. On August 13, 2024 three business located at 4078 Jermantown Road (Woodlands Restaurant), 4068 Jermantown Road (Il Poom Hyang Restaurant), and 4076 Jermantown Road (Dairy Queen) reported that an unknown male forced entry into the businesses and stole money.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division identified a 45-year-old man from Reston as the suspect and obtained five warrants charging him with burglary, according to a press release.
The man was arrested on Friday (Aug. 16) with the help of the Town of Vienna Police Department. As of Friday, he was in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
