Police are investigating the death of a man who experienced health issues after getting arrested for a crash in Fairfax City over the weekend.

Officers responded around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 14) for a single-vehicle crash at the Shell gas station at 11201 Fairfax Blvd. The 66-year-old driver was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol based on a preliminary investigation, the City of Fairfax Police Department says.

UpdateFairfax High School has been cleared after a sweep of the campus didn’t turn up any safety threats, police say. Students are being dismissed in accordance with “normal” procedures.

“Nothing was found and there were no reported injuries,” a Fairfax City police spokesperson said.

Fairfax City police have formally announced the arrest of a man accused of brandishing a knife at a local restaurant yesterday (Monday).

Hadi Abboud, a 23-year-old Fairfax resident, was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m., shortly after police responded to the Saba Yemeni Restaurant at 3900 Pickett Road.

A 22-year-old man was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting a worker and police officers while attempting to rob a CVS Pharmacy store in Fairfax City.

Officers responded to the drug store at 10090 Fairfax Blvd at around 5:28 p.m. last Friday (May 2) for a report of a robbery in progress, according to the City of Fairfax Police Department.

Update 12 p.m. Police said the alleged assailant, a 15-year-old, has been arrested and will be charged with malicious wounding. The 16-year-old who was stabbed has had their condition downgraded to stable. Both teens were students at the school.

While Fairfax County Public Schools are testing out metal detectors at schools, Superintendent Michelle Reid confirmed that West Potomac High School did not have metal detectors in place.

The Fairfax County Police Department said a man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a victim inside a Target (12197 Sunset Hills Road) near the Reston Town Center.

Police said in a release today that the incident took place on April 14 around 1:40 p.m.
