Fairfax County drivers will soon have a new site they can visit for vehicle-related services, including registration and license plate changes.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will provide DMV Select services out of AAA Tysons Corner’s office in the Centennial Plaza Business Park, starting the Tuesday (Sept. 3) after Labor Day weekend.
The new office at 8300 Old Courthouse Road, Suite 110, is the result of a partnership between AAA Mid-Atlantic and the DMV, which contracts with local government and private entities to provide vehicle-only services under the DMV Select program. The Tysons DMV Select will be the third hosted by AAA.
“Our vehicle-only DMV offices are truly an incredible option for our customers to get in and out easily and stay close to home,” DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey said in a press release. “We are excited to expand this partnership with AAA and to offer another convenient location for our customers in Fairfax.”
AAA Tysons Corner DMV Select will have two dedicated windows for DMV customers, supporting walk-in service from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Available services at DMV Select locations include vehicle titles and registrations, license plates and decals, ADA parking permits, transcript requests, voter registration applications, and return check payments.
The combined DMV/AAA office is intended to make both organizations’ services more convenient for customers, AAA Mid-Atlantic Distribution and Automotive Solutions Executive Vice President Lynn Miller said.
“The general public and AAA Members can take care of important state vehicle transactions and attend to their car care, travel and insurance needs all at the same time,” Miller said.
The office will be just down the road from the DMV’s main Tysons customer service center at 1968 Gallows Road. The DMV also has service centers on Braddock Road — a relocation from Fair Oaks Mall — and in Chantilly’s Westfields neighborhood (14950 Northridge Drive).
The area’s only other DMV Select location is in Fairfax City Hall (10455 Armstrong Street, Room 224).
