Fairfax County police have identified a man who allegedly exposed himself in public at two different Tysons shopping centers.

The 22-year-old McLean resident was arrested last Tuesday (Sept. 3) for reportedly “exposing himself and attempting to touch customers inappropriately” in Tysons West (1500 Cornerside Blvd) earlier that day, the Fairfax County Police Department said on Friday (Sept. 6).

According to the police, detectives later connected the man to another indecent exposure incident that occurred on May 25 at TJ Maxx (8389 Leesburg Pike) in the Pike 7 Plaza shopping center.

In that case, a woman reported around 2 p.m. that a man had been following her in the clothing store and exposed himself, though he left the scene before police arrived. The FCPD said the suspect appeared to be a man in his 20s based on surveillance camera footage.

The FCPD has charged the man with sexual battery — which is defined as a form of sexual abuse and a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia — for the TJ Maxx incident. More charges are expected in connection to the exposure report at Tysons West, according to a press release.

The man was released from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond after his arrest, the FCPD said. An adjudicatory hearing is scheduled in Fairfax County General District Court at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 10.
