A now-annual event featuring craft beers and bouquet-making returns to Halley Rise in Reston this weekend.

The second annual “Beer in the Garden” will bring beer from Lost Rhino Brewing Company, barbecue, live music and floral bouquets to the development on Saturday (Sept. 14) from noon to 3 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for guests 21 and up. They include a bouquet, a pint glass, Lost Rhino root beer and a $5 donations to the Reston-based nonprofit Cornerstones, which provides basic needs assistance and operates the Embry Rucker Community Shelter. Beer, food and other refreshments will be available for purchase.

According to Jill Fredrick, vice president of programming and retail marketing for Halley Rise developer Brookfield Properties, Beer in the Garden was conceived last year as a way to introduce the community to the Farm at Halley Rise, an urban farm run by Up Top Acres that grows produce and includes bee hives, a native flower garden, a rain garden and a meadow.

“We have wonderful partnerships with Lost Rhino Brewing Company, Up Top Acres and Cornerstones, that allow the neighborhood to come together, enjoy some time outdoors with great food and drinks, live music, and fun activities, all while giving back to the community,” Fredrick said, calling the event “a community favorite.”

Last year, the Farm at Halley Rise donated more than 1,000 pounds of produce to Cornerstones.

Rock Creek Festival, a bluegrass band, is set to preform at the event. A farmer will be on site to help attendees craft bouquets, and the D.C. restaurant Fat Pete’s BBQ will be selling grub from a food truck.
