One of baking’s biggest brands is bringing its pop-up shop to Fairfax Corner.

Spearheaded by King Arthur Baking Company, the store will open Monday (Sept. 16) as a one-stop shop for a wide range of baking needs. Many of the brand’s products — including 27 different flours and 86 baking mixes — will be available, along with other ingredients, tools and more.

“We decided on Fairfax because we know you have a great foodie scene there,” company director of marketing and communications Carey Underwood told FFXnow. “A lot of baking is happening.”

Most grocery stores carry King Arthur’s products, albeit a limited selection of signature items. The pop-up shop will offer many of the company’s specialty flours, like pasta flour and Irish-style, as well as more flavor mixes for scones, pancakes, and other baked goods.

The pop-up is the company’s second after it introduced the concept in Greenville, South Carolina, from November to December 2023. It will offer more than just a shopping stop for items to bring home, Underwood said.

“What we bring is so much more than flour,” Underwood said. “We’re really about providing everything bakers could need, and that includes the education, the inspiration of talking about recipes [and] sharing ideas.”

Unlike traditional pop-ups that tend to have a more limited stay, the store will be open at 11948 Grand Commons Avenue through next July. The extended timeframe will enable the company to place a greater emphasis on holding events, all while testing the viability of a future, permanent storefront somewhere, Underwood said.

Starting Monday, the store will be open daily from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Elsewhere in the community, King Arthur’s Bake Truck will appear around the neighborhood offering free baked goods. The company’s Bake for Good program, which teaches kids about baking in schools, is also looking to build a presence in the area.
