With the autumnal equinox now in the rearview mirror, the Mosaic Fall Festival is waiting to sweep back into Merrifield.
The annual seasonal celebration will bring food, music and animals to the Mosaic District this weekend (Sept. 28-29) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Like in years past, attractions will include an expanded version of FreshFarm’s weekly farmers’ market, which promises more than 60 local food vendors “showcasing fresh produce and delectable snacks,” according to the event page.
Anyone looking to get a head start on their holiday shopping can check out the 100-plus artisan and vintage goods vendors expected for the URBNmarket. There will also be kids’ activities, including pumpkin painting and games, and a fall-themed selfie station sponsored by Merrifield Garden Center.
New for this year, the festival has added a petting zoo with alpacas, goats and bunnies that will be on-site both days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With NBC4 host Tommy McFly returning as emcee, local musical acts will perform throughout the weekend from a stage on Strawberry Lane.
