The Town of Herndon’s new indoor tennis facility is back in business.
The indoor tennis center at Bready Park (814 Ferndale Avenue), which officially opened today (Monday), features new structure, lights and a repaired ProBounce surface.
Upgrades for the park’s tennis courts, along with the addition of pickleball courts, were completed in fall 2023, but the indoor tennis center was forced to close early for the season in March. The door of the facility was left open, leaving the structure deflated significantly. A later safety check found that 75% of the lighting was damaged, along with a small portion of the courts.
The newly repaired center will stay open through April 13. The contract application for the 2024-2025 season began in July for resident and non-residents.
“There are still LIMITED contracted times available!” the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department said on Instagram, urging players to reserve court times and noting that registration for tennis classes is still underway. “…Sign up and experience the best indoor tennis season yet!”
The operating hours for the courts are:
- Saturday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 7 a.m to 9 p.m.
- Monday: 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 9 a.m. through 10:30 p.m.
- Friday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The facility will be closed for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Hourly rates vary between $24 and $44, depending on the time, status of the resident and age.
