The Potomac School Panthers’ three-game winning streak ended Oct. 5 on a road trip to Pennsylvania.
The Panthers (3-2) lost to The Kiski School Cougars (3-3) of Saltsburg, Pa., a bit northwest of Johnstown, 47-13, in the non-conference high-school football game.
Potomac School had defeated Kiski a year ago in McLean.
The road team was hurt by five turnovers in the Oct. 5 game, including two interceptions returned for touchdowns. Kiski returned the opening kickoff for a TD and had two other scoring plays covering 64 and 84 yards.
“That was a tough Kiski team,” Potomac School coach Dan Wolff said. “We played tough, but too many mistakes and a kickoff return for a TD to open the game.”
The Panthers gained 281 total yards, but couldn’t overcome mistakes. Potomac School’s touchdowns came in the first quarter on a 69-yard pass from Sean Sutherland to Akim Iscandari and in the fourth on Richard Perry’s 10-yard run, his lone carry in the game. Stefan Harvey booted one extra point.
Sutherland was 7 of 12 passing for 165 yards and was intercepted four times. Lucas Boulter ran for 49 yards and Gus Tierney for 33. Iscandari caught four passes for 135 yards, Boulter two for 24 and Mac Repke had one catch. For the season to date, Boulter has 534 yards rushing.
On defense, Tierney, Perry, E.J. Schneeberg and Aarez Ahmed were tackling leaders. Tierney and Perry had tackles for losses.
Kiski amassed 325 total yards.
Potomac School next plays the host Sidwell Friends Quakers (2-3) on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. in D.C. Sidwell did not field a varsity team last season. Prior to that Potomac School defeated Sidwell the last six times the teams met in Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference action.
