The players and teams are ready and the tee times set for the Class 6 state golf tournament.
The one-day, 18-hole Virginia High School League event will be played on the Lansdowne Resort course in Loudoun County on Oct. 15, beginning at 9 a.m. when the first of 15 foursomes tee off.
The region champion Langley Saxons and Robinson Rams from Fairfax County will be two of the eight teams participating. Langley qualified by winning the 6D North Region title two weeks ago, and Robinson did the same by capturing the 6C Region crown.
Robinson is the defending state champion, with Langley third a year ago. Langley won the previous seven straight state crowns prior to last fall.
Two other area teams included in the mix are the Liberty District champion and 6D Region runner-up Washington-Liberty Generals of Arlington and the Woodson Cavaliers of Fairfax.
Four teams from other parts of the state are participating, as well. There will be six players from each of the eight teams playing the course; team and individual champions will be crowned.
Based on district and region-tournament scores, Langley, Robinson and Washington-Liberty are considered among the favorites.
Of the eight teams in the field, the Deep Run Wildcats from Glen Allen had the lowest team score in region-qualifying tournaments, with a 293.
Madison High School sophomore Ryan Moseley will be participating as an individual from the 6D North Region, along with Chantilly High players Patrick O’Rourke and Connor McCarthy.
