A new European bakery is coming soon to Reston.
Roggenart Bakery Cafe and Bistro plans to open next year at 12130A Sunset Hills Road in RTC West, a business spokesperson tells FFXnow.
The bakery appears to be replacing Starbucks, which is being reported as closed on Yelp. The coffee chain didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
A permit application to allow interior alterations was submitted to Fairfax County on Monday (Oct. 14).
Founded by Neman Popov, former CEO of Serbian food maker Centroproizvod, Roggenart opened its first cafe in 2017 and now has several locations in Maryland. The business expanded to Arlington and Chicago this past spring.
Items on the menu include baked goods like apple danishes, fruit tarts, croissants, dutch pretzels. The cafe also sells breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Its signature item is a “crookie,” or a cross between a croissant and a cookie.
Popov and business partner Brody Tennant said in July that they hope to continue expanding the bakery’s footprint, seeking to reimagine “the fast-casual bistro and café” as a place where customers will feel welcome “to slow down and stay a while,” according to a press release.
Existing food options at RTC West include Chick-fil-A, Nando’s Peri Peri, Tiki Thai and Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, which will share a building with Roggenart.
