They fell short of their ultimate goal, but the Robinson Rams still had another strong golf season.
The fall campaign ended when defending champion Robinson finished second in the Virginia High School League’s Class 6 state team tournament, played Oct. 15 on a chilly and windy day on the par-72 Norman course at the Lansdowne Resort in Loudoun County.
The Langley Saxons won with a 303 total. Robinson shot 308.
Leading Robinson was individual runner-up Raquel Walker. She shot 70 and lost on the second hole of a playoff for first to Edison High School’s Owen Love. Walker shot 34-36-70, making five birdies in all, including three in a row on holes three, four and five.
A year ago, Walker tied for 15th with a 76 at the state tournament in Harrisonburg.
Also for Robinson at the state tourney this fall, Sydney Dinh shot 74, Kadyn Burgy 82, Erin Mullin 82, Armaan Osterman 87 and Jake Rafii 102.
Prior to the state tournament, Robinson won the 6C North Region tournament with a 296 team score. Walker won the individual region crown with a 71 and Dinh shot 72 to finish second. Burgy tied for fifth with 76, Mullin shot 77 and Osterman 79.
The Rams also won the Patriot District tournament this fall with a 310 score.
