Multiple postseason tournaments will occur this week involving girls and boys private high-school teams in two different conferences.
In girls Independent School League action, the Flint Hill Huskies, Madeira Snails and Potomac School Panthers will participate in soccer, tennis and volleyball tournaments. In the boys Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference, Flint Hill and Potomac School teams will participate in the soccer tourney.
In girls soccer, Potomac School (10-4) is the defending AA Division tournament champion and is the No. 2 seed in that competition behind Georgetown Day. The Panthers are scheduled to host No. 7 seed Stone Ridge in the first round.
Potomac School enters the tournament with a three-game winning streak.
Flint Hill and Madeira play in A Division soccer tournaments and are seeded fourth and seventh, respectively.
The championship matches are Friday (Nov. 1) at 3 p.m. at Madeira (A Division) and Episcopal School (AA Division).
In the girls AA Division volleyball tournament, the defending champion Flint Hill Huskies (18-4) are the No. 3 seed behind No. 1 Georgetown Day and No. 2 Bullis. Potomac School is seeded fourth. Flint Hill lost to Georgetown Day and Potomac School in recent regular-season matches.
The championship match is Thursday (Oct. 31) at 6 p.m. at Flint Hill.
Madeira is the No. 7 seed in the A Division tournament, with the final Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. at Flint Hill.
In the AA Division girls tennis tournament, Potomac School is the No. 2 seed and defeated seventh-seed Maret, 7-0, in a first-round match. The Panthers were scheduled to face No. 3 seed Holton-Arms in the semifinals.
The finals are Wednesday (Oct. 30) at 3 p.m. at Potomac School. Sidwell Friends is the top seed. Flint Hill was the fifth seed and lost to Holton-Arms, 6-1, in the first round.
Seventh-seed Madeira lost to Stone Ridge in the first round of the A Division tourney.
The girls ISL field hockey tournament is next week.
In the boys MAC soccer tournament, regular-season champion Potomac School (9-1-5) is the top seed and earned a first-round bye. The Panthers are scheduled to face defending champion Sidwell Friends in a semifinal match Tuesday (Oct. 29) at Potomac School at 3 p.m.
The Panthers lost to Sidwell in last year’s MAC-tourney final. In this year’s event, fourth-seed Sidwell defeated fifth-seed Flint Hill in a first-round match.
This season’s title match is Thursday (Oct. 31) at 3 p.m. at the higher seed.
