Robinson junior finishes second in Girls State Open golf tournament

With a strong back-nine finish, Robinson Rams’ golfer Erin Mullin finished second in the Girls State Open golf tournament

The junior shot a 1-under-par round of 69 at the Virginia High School League event on the Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg Monday (Oct. 28). She was two shots behind the winning seven-birdie round of 67 shot by Kathryn Ha from Salem High of Virginia Beach.

Mullin shot a bogey-free, 4-under-32 on the back nine. She made four birdies on the final nine, including two on the final three holes. For the round, Mullin made five birdies. Her four bogeys came on the front nine, including two on the first three holes with a birdie squeezed in between.

Mullin was one of three Robinson Secondary golfers who played in the State Open. Fellow junior Raquel Walker tied for second with a 73 and freshman Sydney Dinh tied for 13th at 75.

Walker made three birdies. Dinh made no birdies, but had one eagle three.

Fairfax High School senior Cailyn Park tied for fourth with an even-par 70, making four birdies and four bogeys.

Langley High senior Sarah Wang shot 77 to tie for 16th, West Potomac freshman Isabel Vizgaitis shot 78 to tie for 20th and Woodson sophomore Aurora Yoo had an 81.
