A new dining option is arriving in McLean, just in time to fortify local voters looking for some grub after they stop by the polls today.

Timber Pizza will serve its first official customers this afternoon (Tuesday), holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. and opening its doors at the McLean Village shopping center (8100 Old Dominion Drive) at 5 p.m.

The launch follows an invitation-only soft opening over the weekend and an Oct. 29 visit by the pizzeria’s mobile food truck, which gave away slices for about three hours while supplies lasted.

Located next to Roots Kitchen and Bar, the fast-casual restaurant will initially operate from 4-9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to around 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to its website.

Started as a food truck in 2014, Timber Pizza now has six permanent, brick-and-mortar shops, but the McLean location is its first in Fairfax County. The business decided to expand in the area after seeing strong demand for its vending and catering services in Northern Virginia, where it can also be found at Ballston Quarter and Reagan National Airport in Arlington.

“We have been on the search for the right space to serve pizza in an amazing neighborhood,” marketing coordinator Emily Compton previously told FFXnow. “We’re so happy we found that in McLean!”

In addition to wood-fired pizzas, which come in 12-inch pies with options for red, green and white sauces, the menu includes empanadas, salads and ice cream for dessert. The drink options vary by location, though the list for McLean hasn’t been publicized yet.

Timber Pizza joins a range of pizza spots in McLean, though most of its competition is concentrated in the immediate downtown area to the east. There, residents can find chains like Domino’s and Papa John’s as well as more local establishments, such as Pulcinella’s, The Italian Oven and Rocco’s Italian Restaurant.
