A new facility allowing kids to work on their soccer skills year-round is expected to open in the Kings Park West neighborhood next month.
KidsUnited, which uses soccer as a means of athletic and emotional development for kids, is targeting a December grand opening for its forthcoming Fairfax location, a company spokesperson told FFXnow.
This will be one of KidsUnited’s first locations in the D.C. area, joining a South Riding site in Loudoun County. The business can primarily be found in New Jersey, but it also has upcoming franchises in New York, Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Ontario, Canada.
“Our goal is to not only provide a fun and enriching soccer experience, but to positively impact the lives of young participants in a lasting way,” the KidsUnited Fairfax team said. “We look forward to being an active part of the Fairfax community and contributing to the growth and well-being of its families.”
The nearly 4,000-square-foot facility, located at 9579 Braddock Road in the Twinbrooke Shopping Center, will play host to KidsUnited’s seven different early-development soccer programs, catering to children aged up to 10-years old.
KidsUnited offers two group programs for those aged 1.5 to 3.5 years old, focusing on the development of motor skills and teamwork while working with parents and other group members. Intermediate programs catered to older children emphasize “more complex development focuses,” like creative thinking and soccer coordination.
“We believe that introducing kids to soccer at a young age provides invaluable physical, social, and emotional benefits,” the franchise owners said. “Through our structured curriculum and nurturing environment, we aim to instill a love of the game while also building important life skills like teamwork, discipline, and self-esteem.”
A temporary location has been established in the shopping center ahead of the facility’s opening, allowing parents to learn more about KidsUnited programs.
Interested participants who sign up in advance of opening will receive a discount, according to a spokesperson.
Anchored by Safeway, Twinbrooke Shopping Center is also home to an Anytime Fitness gym and Top Tae Kwon Do.
