A family-owned cafe offering coffee and wine is coming to the Twinbrooke Shopping Center in Kings Park West later this year.

Trummer’s Coffee & Wine Bar, which is inspired by Austrian, Italian and other European-style coffeehouses, will open its doors in the shopping center this fall, a spokesperson for property owner Federal Realty announced last week.

Though Anytime Fitness is set to close later this spring, the Twinbrooke Shopping Center won’t go without a gym for long.

Expected to open in the Kings Park West strip mall this summer is Pump24, a local gym brand “designed for individuals who take their training seriously and are seeking a higher-quality experience than traditional big-box facilities,” a spokesperson said.

A gym in Kings Park West will close later this spring, but apparently not by choice.

Operating since 2017, Anytime Fitness will shutter at the Twinbrooke Shopping Center in April as the result of a conflict with Federal Realty, which owns the property, gym owner Brian Samuel told FFXnow.

A two-alarm fire that engulfed a single-family house in the Kings Park West neighborhood last weekend has become fatal.

One resident who suffered injuries from the fire early Saturday morning (Nov. 29) has died, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFRD) announced yesterday (Monday). Three other people, including one firefighter, were also hospitalized.

A Virginia State Police trooper will not face criminal charges after a teen was shot with his gun in Kings Park West earlier this year.

There is no evidence supporting the idea that the trooper shot the teen. Rather, the teen appears to have disarmed the trooper during a scuffle and accidentally shot himself, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced yesterday (Thursday).

A teen was shot after being tackled by a Virginia State Police trooper during a pursuit in the Kings Park West neighborhood early this morning (Tuesday).

The trooper encountered the 16-year-old boy while investigating a vehicle that had reportedly fled from a Fairfax City police traffic stop near Burke Station Road and Main Street at around 12:43 a.m., according to VSP spokesperson Matthew Demlein.

A shopping center in the Kings Park West neighborhood is up for a makeover.

Nearly 50 years after it was first constructed, Twinbrooke Shopping Center (9525 Braddock Road) will kick off a “transformation” later this month to modernize more than two dozen storefronts, property manager Federal Realty announced.
