A new restaurant aiming to blend popular American dishes with classic Afghan flavors has begun serving diners.

Noosh Grill kicked off its soft opening at 9573 Braddock Road in Twinbrooke Centre in the Kings Park West neighborhood today (Wednesday), bringing a family-inspired Halal eatery to the area.

The new year will bring some upgrades to the trails at Royal Lake Park.

With a two-year-long design and permitting process nearing completion, the Fairfax County Park Authority is accepting public comments through Jan. 27 on an environmental review of the planned trail-network improvements at the park in Kings Park West.

A new facility allowing kids to work on their soccer skills year-round is expected to open in the Kings Park West neighborhood next month.

KidsUnited, which uses soccer as a means of athletic and emotional development for kids, is targeting a December grand opening for its forthcoming Fairfax location, a company spokesperson told FFXnow.

Angie’s Restaurant will permanently close its doors after this weekend, wrapping up decades of serving gyros, omelets and more in the Kings Park West neighborhood.

The Greek and Italian diner’s last day of business will be this Sunday (May 26), one employee told FFXnow. Another said the team opted to close because the landlord for Twinbrooke Shopping Center, where Angie’s is located, “raised the rent too much.”

A man in the Kings Park West area shot and killed his wife before dying by suicide on Saturday (May 14), the Fairfax County Police Department reported this afternoon (Monday).

Madeline Bregman, 76, and Michael Bregman, 77, were found deceased inside their home in the 10400 block of Stallworth Court, just north of Robinson Secondary School, when officers stopped by before 3 p.m. for a welfare check, according to police.
