Flint Hill School player chosen tops in Va. private-school tennis

On the strength of a strong fall season with only one loss in singles competition, Flint Hill School junior girls tennis player Margaux DeVaul was chosen as the Division I private-school state Player of the Year.

Her play helped the Flint Hill team win six matches during the high-school campaign and earn a berth in the Independent School League postseason tournament.

“Margaux is dedicated in all aspects of her game,” Flint Hill coach Tim Bainton said. “She has explosive shots from both sides, has great tenacity, she plays at a high level and when she is on, she is unstoppable.”

This is DeVaul’s second year at Flint Hill. Bainton said she has plans to play in college, but has made no decision on which school.

“Her game will translate to the college level and beyond,” Bainton said.
