Citibank to open branch in Vienna early next year

A new bank will be checking into the Town of Vienna in the new year.

Citibank will open a branch at 201 Maple Avenue East in early 2025, a spokesperson confirmed to FFXnow. Construction on the 2,304-square-foot space formerly occupied by Noodles & Company has been underway for weeks.

Workers installed exterior signage on the storefront in late October — on the same day, in fact, that Call Your Mother opened at the Vienna Marketplace shopping center, just a couple of doors down from the future bank.

Citi’s Vienna location will be a full-service branch with “flexible seating and an open floor concept that encourages the community to engage with the bank through events, educational outreach, and more,” Vice President of Public Affairs Hilary Weissman said.

Citi currently has 30 locations in the D.C. area, including at the Mosaic District in Merrifield, near the Spring Hill Metro station in Tysons and on Old Dominion Drive in McLean. This will be its first branch in Vienna, though the company has ATMs in many of the town’s grocery and convenience stores.

Before opening in Vienna, Citi is expected to launch a Clarendon location later this December that will represent its first new branch in the region in more than a decade.

“We look forward to serving customers in Vienna as we grow our presence in the Greater Washington, D.C. area,” Ed Patterson, Citi’s central southeast regional head, said. “Our team is eager to share Citi’s suite of flexible financial solutions in this innovative and welcoming space.”

Citi says its decision to bring a branch to Vienna reflects a “deep connection and continued support of the Greater Washington D.C. community.”

More from Citi on its involvement in the region:

Over the past five years, the Citi Foundation has granted over $40M to community organizations working across the area to help connect low-income communities to greater economic opportunity. Citi volunteers also dedicate their time and expertise year-round to support underserved communities across Greater Washington, D.C., from homebuying education classes to career readiness workshops to helping pack 20,000 meals for low-income D.C. residents as a part of this year’s annual Global Community Day campaign.

Earlier this year, the Citi Foundation announced the recipients of the newest cohort of Community Progress Makers, committing over $5 million over three years (2024-2026) to five nonprofits in Greater Washington, D.C.
