She isn’t the prolific scorer like in high school, but Elizabeth Dufrane is still a significant point producer in women’s college basketball.
The McLean High School graduate is a starting senior guard for the Division III Roger Williams University team in Rhode Island. Through 13 games this season, Dufrane is the Hawks’ second-leading scorer, averaging 11 points per game and 4.4 rebounds.
She also is the team leader in assists with 50, steals with 22 and blocked shots with 14, and she has made 15 three-point baskets.
Her best game this season was a 22-point, eight-rebound, seven-assist and four-block performance.
Dufrane is the 13th leading scorer per game in the Conference of New England, is third in assists per game, fourth in blocks and 17th in steals.
Last season, Dufrane played in 18 games with one start for Roger Williams. She averaged 7.8 points per contest, had 35 assists and 66 rebounds.
Prior to playing for Roger Williams, Dufrane played two seasons for the University of Mary Washington team, scoring 295 points. That gives her 578 career points through 13 contests this season.
Dufrane began her college career as a member of the Division I women’s team at Drexel University, but she did not play her freshman season.
At McLean, Dufrane finished as the all-time leading career scorer for both the Highlanders’ girls and boys high-school basketball programs with 1,562 points.
She was the Liberty District and 6D North Region Player of the Year her senior season.
