It won’t be long before pickleballers are dinking and volleying at a new indoor facility in Chantilly.
Owners of the forthcoming Dill Dinkers space are hoping to open doors this spring — a minor delay after they previously anticipated a winter opening.
“Fairfax County is home to a dynamic and enthusiastic pickleball community, and we are excited to bring this premier facility to the area,” said Andriana Solano, who co-owns the location with her husband, Rick. “We’re not just creating a place to play pickleball—we’re building a hub for socializing, learning, and growing the sport we love.”
Dill Dinkers will open at 13954 Metrotech Drive in the Sully Place Shopping Center, roughly two miles away from a similar facility. The new facility will fill a 30,400-square-foot space that housed a now-departed Babies “R” Us store.
The space is one of the largest within the shopping center, and Dill Dinkers is expected to use much, if not all, of it. The new facility will offer 10 regulation-sized courts plus two “championship courts,” as well as an event space, pro shop and much more.
The Chantilly facility will also feature cushioned court surfaces, which allow players to participate longer as the impact is much less compared to asphalt surfaces.
Based on what could be seen from the outside yesterday (Monday), however, it did not appear as if much of anything had been installed, although the view inside through a narrow panel of window uncovered by a window graphic was extremely limited.
This location, which will be the chain’s second in Virginia, is part of a plan by the Solanos to open 10 different locations across Northern Virginia. The company opened its first Virginia location at Manassas Mall last June, and it can also be found across Maryland.
“As longtime residents of Northern Virginia — having lived here for nearly 15 years — we’ve seen firsthand how passionate this community is about pickleball,” Andriana Solano told FFXnow in September.
“The area’s strong sense of community, combined with the growing interest in the sport, convinced us that Chantilly was the perfect place to launch our new club. Our Dill Dinkers brand is expanding rapidly in the DMV, giving our members the ability to play at any of our clubs, not just in the DMV, but across the country.”
