With a little more than two weeks remaining in the regular season, there were eight outright first-place leaders through Tuesday (Jan. 28) action in the four different public-school basketball districts in the 6D North Region.
In girls play, the Langley Saxons at 8-0 were among the leaders, atop the Liberty District by two games over the McLean Highlanders.
In the Concorde District, the Centreville Wildcats were first at 5-0 with the Chantilly Chargers right behind at 4-1. Chantilly defeated the Oakton Cougars, 48-42, in a Jan. 28 contest. Oakton dropped to 3-2 in the district.
The Robinson Rams were 9-0 and had a one-game lead atop the Patriot District.
The Hayfield Hawks were alone in first in 9-0 in the National District.
In boys play, the Yorktown Patriots (7-0) had a four-game Liberty District lead in the loss column over three other teams.
The South Lakes Seahawks at 5-0 were atop the Concorde District.
The Woodson Cavaliers had a three-game lead with an 8-0 mark in the Patriot District.
Like the girls, the Hayfield boys were atop the National District, standing 9-0 in league play.
In the boys Liberty District, Langley has made a strong recent run to tie for second place at 4-4 after starting 0-3.
