A man has been charged with an alleged armed carjacking in Annandale yesterday (Wednesday) that led to an arrest in Tysons.

Fairfax County police officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Columbia Pike around 7:32 p.m. after a caller reported being carjacked “at gunpoint,” according to scanner traffic.

The address was initially reported as Burger King before being switched to 7037 Columbia Pike, leading police to set up at the Juke Box Diner, per the scanner.

“The victims reported that a suspect had displayed a gun and demanded they get out of the car,” the Fairfax County Police Department said today (Thursday) in a press release. “The victims exited their vehicle [and] then the suspect fled in their 2020 Chevrolet Trax before officers arrived.”

No injuries were reported.

The vehicle was subsequently spotted on I-495 North, leading to a pursuit that went into Tysons. Officers brought the vehicle to a stop at Galleria Drive and International Drive, and the driver was taken into custody around 7:42 p.m.

The 24-year-old driver has been charged with carjacking and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the FCPD. He is in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
