One of the world’s most popular brands for cold confections is targeting two Fairfax County neighborhoods.
Cold Stone Creamery, which already offers eight locations across the county, plans to open new stores in Lincolnia and Lorton, according to the county’s permitting portal.
The forthcoming Lincolnia location, housed in the Pinecrest Plaza shopping center, will fill a 1,720-square-foot space that formerly belonged to a dance studio.
A large Cold Stone Creamery sign has been installed on the facade above 6550I Little River Turnpike. Signage denoting that the shop was “Coming Soon” is also posted in the window.
It is unclear, however, when exactly the location is expected to open. A request for information sent to Edens, the property manager of the shopping center, went unanswered.
According to the county’s permitting portal, an interior demolition permit was issued on Feb. 25. A permit application to build out the storefront is currently under review by county officials.
The proposed Lorton location appears to be on a similar timeline.
An application for an interior alteration permit submitted on Feb. 5 remains under review for the new location, according to the county’s permitting portal.
The forthcoming Lorton location will be in one of the storefronts at 8170 Silverbrook Road, though it is unclear which one. The targeted building, which features four different storefronts, most recently housed a dentist, spa, masseuse and a Mexican restaurant.
An email sent to a Cold Stone Creamery spokesperson went unanswered.

Cold Stone Creamery also offers sundaes, ice cream cakes, smoothies and other traditional items.
In Fairfax County, the brand currently offers locations in Burke, Fair Oaks, Huntington, Hybla Valley, Merrifield, Springfield and Reston. A shop is also in the works at Fairfax City’s Turnpike Shopping Center.
