New sushi bar now open in Herndon shopping center

After eight months without one, a new sushi spot has opened its doors in Herndon’s Fox Mill Shopping Center.

Sushi Kabuki began serving diners earlier this month at 2533 John Milton Drive — ironically, the former home of Mari Sushi Bar & Lounge, which closed in July. Signage for the new restaurant first appeared at the storefront back in October.

The Herndon eatery is the second location for the brand, which also has a restaurant in a Florida suburb.

It is unclear, however, why the brand opted for a Northern Virginia location, as a request for comment sent to the restaurant’s owner went unanswered.

According to the website for its Florida restaurant, Sushi Kabuki started with one goal: “to bring authentic, mouth-watering sushi to our community.”

The Herndon location features a vast menu with a selection of 60 different sushi rolls. The restaurant also offers a lunch option where diners can sample two different rolls for $14.95.

Customers looking to feed a crowd can choose from three different-sized sushi boats, starting at $69.95.

Sushi Kabuki’s menu also features 11 different entrees, offering traditional dishes like chicken katsu, bulgogi and more. Those are accompanied by a variety of fried rice and noodle options.

The Herndon restaurant is open Tuesdays through Sundays for both lunch and dinner hours. A full schedule is available on Sushi Kabuki’s website.
