Reston Association (RA) is looking for community input on plans to renovate the Lake Newport Tennis Court.
The courts at 11452 Baron Cameron Avenue are currently funded for renovation sometime in 2026 or 2027, with community engagement and engineering starting this year.
Currently, the site consists of six lighted tennis courts with blended lines for pickleball. There are also restrooms, a small pavilion, and a surface parking lot with 122 spaces that are shared with Lake Newport and RA’s Lake House.
After hosting an in-person community engagement event on April 30, RA is running a survey aimed at gathering feedback on how the tennis courts could be improved for the community and, more generally, what local tennis players want to see in Reston.
Open until June 1, the survey asks the community to rank elements like cleanliness, lighting, surface quality, and more at the court.
The survey also asks what improvements users would like to see at the site, such as a greater focus on pickleball, upgraded lighting, or water bottle filling stations.
“[The survey] is designed to gather even more feedback on what priorities and improvements you’d like us to consider as we develop plans for this planned renovation,” RA said in a press release. “Your responses will play a crucial role in guiding future developments and improvements.”
RA operates 54 outdoor tennis courts at 14 different sites across Reston, most recently completing upgrades at the Glade courts that included new LED lighting and a clay surface.
The Barton Hill courts also remain closed for repairs and a complete renovation. Depending on the weather, RA anticipates finishing the project and reopening the courts at 1901 Barton Hill Road in June, a spokesperson says.
