The man allegedly behind a recent shooting outside a Bailey’s Crossroads nightclub has been arrested.

Detectives believe Evangel McNeill, a 35-year-old from Maryland, shot another man during an argument outside the Black Rose Lounge (5815 Seminary Road) around 1 a.m. on April 30, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

“McNeill … discharged a firearm, striking the victim multiple times,” the FCPD said in a press release today (Friday). “McNeill then fled the area before police arrived on scene.”

Responding police officers found the shot man with gun wounds to the upper body, and he was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Personnel from the Virginia State Police and Arlington County and Alexandria City police departments were called to assist with controlling a crowd that gathered at the nightclub after the shooting, the FCPD previously stated.

While the department didn’t share any details, it says an investigation led detectives to identify McNeill as the suspect, and its Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Team found him in Maryland with the help of the Prince George’s County Police Department.

McNeill was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Prince George’s County Jail, police say.

Once he’s extradited to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, he is expected to be charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the FCPD.

In Virginia, malicious wounding is defined as a shooting, stabbing or other attack that results in “bodily injury” and is classified as a Class 2 felony if the victim suffers “permanent and significant physical impairment.” Potential punishments for a conviction include 20 years to life in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
