At 38 years old, an exclusive social club that looms over Tysons has decided it’s time for a makeover.
Tower Club of Tysons Corner will undergo a “substantive” interior renovation this summer, owner and operator Invited Club announced on April 18. The $1 million overhaul will be the club’s first significant redesign since its founding in 1989.
“Work is expected to begin in June,” a public relations representative for Invited told FFXnow. “The club will remain open during almost the entire renovation which is expected to take somewhere between two to three months.”
Located in the penthouse of the 17-story office building at 8000 Towers Crescent Drive, Tower Club was established in the late 1980s by a group of real estate developers, bankers and technology industry leaders to serve as a social and networking hub for Northern Virginia power players, according to its website.
The club was acquired in 1993 by Invited, enabling members to use the Dallas, Texas-based company’s 20 other city clubs. Invited operates over 200 properties across the country, including golf courses and country clubs.
In addition to hosting corporate meetings, wedding showers and other events, Tower Club has a lounge that serves small plates and drinks, a fine-dining restaurant called Reserve, and both individual and group work spaces.
According to a press release, the upcoming renovation will include expanded seating, an “elevated dining experience” and other design enhancements. Renderings show a new dining area and bar, an atrium and a ballroom.
When announcing the renovation project last month, the club also unveiled a new logo as part of a brand repositioning. According to Invited, the refreshed look is intended to reflect the club’s roots as well as “a more modern approach to the vibrant personality of its membership.”
“Tower Club – Tysons Corner is a fixture in the community with a rich history that stretches back for
decades, which is why this reimagination of the club is so integral to its future,” Invited Senior Vice President of Operations Brandon Millares said in the release. “The club embodies the principles of structure, tradition and collaboration that define our nation’s capital, and this reinvestment campaign will refine that timeless tradition for a new generation.”
