Shake Shack has settled on an opening date for its new restaurant at Reston Town Center.
The chain will start serving its signature burgers and shakes at 11922 Democracy Drive on Wednesday, July 16, Shake Shack communications manager Kate DeMarco says. The initial “wave” of customers to arrive when doors open at 11 a.m. will receive Shake Shack stickers.
Throughout its opening day, the restaurant will also donate $1 for every sandwich sold to the local nonprofit Cornerstones, which operates the Embry Rucker Community Shelter and offers assistance with housing, finances, food and other basic needs.
Located in the space formerly occupied by The Counter, another burger joint that closed last August, the Reston Shake Shack is the company’s 12th location in Virginia.
Originally started in 2001 as a New York City hot dog cart, Shake Shack now has hundreds of restaurants across the U.S. and has recently been expanding its presence in Northern Virginia. In Fairfax County, it can also be found at the Mosaic District in Merrifield, the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, and in Tysons, where it has two locations — one at Tysons Corner Center and a standalone drive-thru venue at Pike 7 Plaza.
In addition to burgers and milkshakes, Shake Shack’s menu includes chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, a variety of fries, and lemonades and iced teas to round out the drinks. It also does still serve hot dogs.
The Reston Town Center location will be open at 11 a.m. daily with a closing time of 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
