Vienna’s Cedar Park Shopping Center will welcome a hardware store later this year.
Signage for the forthcoming Ace Hardware has begun to appear outside 264 Cedar Lane SE, which formerly housed CVS Pharmacy until April of this year.
The soft opening of the new store is currently scheduled to begin on Sept. 2, managing partner Faizal Thobani told FFXnow. The full grand opening will be held on Oct 10-12, allowing customers to sample products and talk to representatives from vendors like Weber, Milwaukee Tools, Yeti, Benjamin Moore and more.
“We found the Vienna economy to be robust with many of its residents having highly skilled jobs and professions,” Thobani said. “We feel with the product mix and customer service that we offer and the strong community in front of us, Ace Hardware of Vienna will be a success.”
Thobani, a McLean resident who will operate the store with his wife, Aekta, also cited the neighborhood’s family feel as a major selling point for opening the store in Vienna.
“We were attracted to Vienna primarily due to its positive energy and the strong sense of family we found while doing our research,” Thobani said. “Having three children ourselves, we appreciate the significance of a strong family-community.”
Founded in 1924, Ace Hardware operates as a retailer’s cooperative, allowing owners of individual stores to partner and purchase wholesale merchandise while reducing costs.
When it opens, the Vienna location will be the brand’s second store in the Fairfax area, joining one that has operated in Fairfax City for more than a decade.
“When our customers enter our store they can expect to be greeted by friendly and knowledgeable associates who will be more than happy to help with any project they may be working on,” Thobani said.
The Vienna store will be the Thobanis’ first foray into Ace Hardware, but perhaps not their last. The couple hopes to open additional stores around Northern Virginia in the future.
Ace Hardware will join a wide variety of businesses already housed in the Cedar Park Shopping Center, though it is the only hardware store. Neighboring tenants include eateries like Sushi Koji, Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream and The Red Bird.
