A man remains hospitalized after being struck by a driver near Arrowbrook Centre in Herndon late last week.
Fairfax County police officers and medics were dispatched around 7:22 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 3) for a crash involving a driver in a 2012 Nissan Versa hitting a pedestrian near the intersection of Centreville Road and Woodland Park Road just south of the Dulles Toll Road.
The pedestrian, an adult man, was transported to Reston Hospital with injuries described by police as life-threatening.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash, which required an extended closure of Centreville Road in both directions at the Woodland Park intersection, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
“Preliminarily, detectives determined the pedestrian was within the crosswalk but was against the walk signal when the crash occurred,” an FCPD spokesperson told FFXnow.
There have now been more than 100 crashes involving pedestrians in Fairfax County so far this year based on preliminary state data, which doesn’t appear to have been updated yet with the Centreville Road crash or a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Richmond Highway last month.
Those crashes have resulted in at least 114 injuries and seven deaths.
Both directions of Centreville Rd are closed at Woodland Park Rd. Please use an alternate route. (2/2)
