Snakeden Branch Trail has reopened in Reston after an extended closure due to an FBI investigation.

Residents reported that a white van was parked near a bridge along the trail for much of today (Wednesday), and FBI agents wearing white jumpsuits were spotted working in the woods.

One person on Reddit estimated that there were about 20 agents present, noting that the trail was blocked off with crime scene tape.

A spokesperson for the FBI’s Washington Field Office says the agency was “conducting law enforcement activity in the vicinity.”

“There is no threat to public safety,” the spokesperson said.

The FBI didn’t provide any details about the nature of the investigation.

The Fairfax County Police Department says it had “no involvement with this activity.”
