Herndon police believe they have arrested everyone involved in the stabbing of a teen late last month, a department spokesperson says.

The 15-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed by three people at a home in the 600 block of Center Street around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24. He was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, though his condition later stabilized.

The Herndon Police Department announced in a weekly crime report released Tuesday (Nov. 4) that four people — three juveniles and one adult — have been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing.

“The victim and subjects are known to each other,” police said, though HPD spokesperson Lisa Herndon says she can’t elaborate on the nature of their relationship.

The adult — identified as 18-year-old Herndon resident Wilber Flores Lopez — was arrested on Oct. 24 and charged with a misdemeanor assault by mob, which is defined by Virginia law as any group of people who assemble for the purpose of committing an assault.

The offense is typically a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable with up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine, but it can be elevated to a Class 3 felony in cases where there’s an intent to main, disfigure, disable or kill.

One 14-year-old arrested on Oct. 28 was hit with the same charge, while two 16-year-olds were also charged with malicious wounding, a Class 6 felony that carries a potential sentence of one to five years in prison.

One of the 16-year-olds was charged with gang participation — a Class 3 felony that could bring five to 20 years of prison time — in addition to the malicious wounding and assault by mob charges. He was released to his parents, but all other suspects in the case remain in custody until their next court hearing, according to the Herndon police report.
