Though the peak season for chilly treats has passed, Meadows Frozen Custard still intends to open its new Reston location by the end of 2025.
After initially aiming for an early summer launch, the frozen custard shop is now eyeing early December to officially open its doors at 11130 South Lakes Drive in the South Lakes Village Center.
The new store’s custard machine is currently scheduled to be installed on Dec. 1, franchisee Michael Nassif told FFXnow.
“If that happens without any further delays, then we will have [a] soft open that week and grand opening Saturday, Dec. 6,” he said.
The custard shop had long been a stalwart at One Loudoun, a mixed-use shopping area in Loudoun County. But, after more than a decade, Nassif closed the shop in December 2024.
“The development became overly saturated with other ice cream stores in violation of the spirit of my exclusive clause in my lease,” Nassif previously told FFXnow. “I decided not to renew and was considering just stopping all together.”
After finding the new location, however, Nassif opted to keep a good thing going — albeit elsewhere.
“We are very excited to be part of the South Lakes community and give the people of South Reston an ice cream option without having to go far from their homes,” Nassif said in March. “Summer nights with our frozen treats and sitting on the new plaza overlooking Lake Thoreau hopefully will be a new summer tradition for local families.”
The chain, founded in Pennsylvania in 1950, offers items from simple cups and cones to “ultra thick shakes” known as frosts, as well as Arctic Swirls that blend custard with “your favorite candy, nuts or fruit.”
Customers can also choose from Meadows Favorites, which include banana splits and other traditional fare, plus Italian ice, gelati, smoothies and cakes.
When it opens, the Reston location will be the brand’s 26th location nationwide.
