Visitors to the Providence Rec Center will have to find another location for their workouts later this month.
The Fairfax County Park Authority announced plans yesterday to close the facility at 7525 Marc Drive in West Falls Church from Monday, March 23 to Sunday, April 5 for maintenance and upgrades.
Rec center members and other visitors can visit the next closest locations — Audrey Moore Rec Center (8100 Braddock Road, Annandale) or Oakmont Rec Center (3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton) during the closure. Members may also pause their membership by visiting the front desk before the closure or making the request online.
More large-scale renovations for the recreation center are uncertain. The park authority wants to renovate the Providence Rec Center and two other rec centers but anticipates limited funds due to rising construction costs.
For the 2026 park bond, officials are leaning toward prioritizing the older Audrey Moore Rec Center for renovations and Franconia Rec Center for more modest improvements. The park bond referendum for November has not yet been finalized, but would total $180 million under County Executive Bryan Hill’s proposed capital improvement bond plan.

Several building maintenance projects and improvements to improve safety and enhance customer experience will be conducted simultaneously to minimize the length of the closure, including:
- Deep cleaning and painting
- HVAC work
- Repairs, cleaning and maintenance in the natatorium
- Lighting updates
- Window replacements
- Fire alarm updates begin
- Exterior entry plaza improvements
- Carpet replacement in the main office
- Updates to the guest services desk
