A food truck festival is parking at Springfield Town Center today (Friday), potentially drawing thousands of visitors over its weekend-long stay.

Foodees Fest will bring more than 40 food trucks and vendors, along with an artisan market, to the mall, starting today from 1-9 p.m.

The festivities are scheduled to continue from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday (April 19).

Billed as one of the largest touring food truck and artisan festivals in the U.S., Foodees Fest previously stopped by Springfield Town Center last June. Organizers say it attracted between 26,600 and 35,500 guests over its three-day stay.

“We’re coming back to Springfield this year because last year’s turnout was excellent, and we received many requests on social media from the local community asking us to return,” Foodees LLC Marketing Director Marisa Black told FFXnow. “The welcoming response made it an easy decision!”

The expected vendors will hawk a range of cuisine, from barbecue, tacos and hot dogs to Thai food, Turkish kofte, crab cakes and desserts. Drink options will also be available, including tea and lemonade, along with makers of jewelry, home decor, toys and other non-edible products.

The festival is free, so registration isn’t necessarily required. However, Foodees is encouraging visitors to reserve a ticket in advance to help with their planning, and those who do register are entered into a raffle for a free meal.

“We are thrilled to bring the Foodees Food and Culture Festival to Springfield,” Foodees owner Tricia Croft said in a press release. “Foodees Fest is about creating an atmosphere where communities can gather, discover amazing food, support talented artisans, and enjoy a weekend together. We’re excited to welcome everyone out for this incredible event.”

Springfield is the festival’s only stop in Virginia, but according to Foodees’ website, it is scheduled to return to the D.C. region on Sept. 4-6 for a visit to National Harbor in Maryland.
