A new restaurant franchise centered around breakfast and brunch is coming soon to University Mall.
Another Broken Egg Cafe is preparing to open a new location soon at 10645 Braddock Road in the shopping center near George Mason University’s Fairfax campus.
The new restaurant is reportedly hosting a “VIP Event” and staff training day with free meals tomorrow (Wednesday), according to D.C.-area influencer @bingbongbiggie, who says reservations are available from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
“This event is a training day for our team,” the restaurant wrote on its booking page. “We welcome you to join us in preparation for our grand opening. In lieu of paying for your meal, we ask that you donate to Cooking Autism — our partner that we’re supporting to help make life better for others in the community.”
The Louisiana-born and Florida-based franchise offers a variety of traditional brunch items and hearty, Southern-inspired fare, including crispy chicken and waffles, omelettes, eggs Benedict and shrimp and grits, in addition to beignets, espresso drinks, cocktails and mocktails.
Current seasonal offerings span from blueberry lime pancakes and strawberry lavender cheesecake waffles to chicken and red chile chilaquiles.
In Fairfax, the franchise is slated to fill a retail vacancy left by McDonald’s in 2025, per the Washington Business Journal.
While the “VIP” event takes place tomorrow, it’s unclear exactly when the Fairfax restaurant plans to open officially. The business did not return phone calls or emails before publication.
Another Broken Egg Cafe has opened more than 100 locations across 17 states since its founding in 1996. While the Fairfax restaurant prepares to open, another franchise location is placing roots in Ashburn’s Bram Quarter development. According to The Burn, that location is aiming for a late June opening.
Elsewhere at University Mall, another restaurant, Dona Mesa Tex Mex Kitchen is “coming soon,” according to storefront signage. The restaurant’s website lists its opening date as “May 2026.”
