A Herndon man has been arrested and charged a second time in connection with a crash that injured a pedestrian in Reston more than a decade ago.

Police have accused Enda Browne, now 43, of crashing into a woman who was crossing Reston Parkway at Spectrum Center at around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2014.

Browne had been heading south on Reston Parkway in a 2014 Ford Fusion at the time of the crash and allegedly fled the scene.

The woman, whose name hasn’t been publicized by the police, was taken to Reston Hospital with injuries initially deemed life-threatening.

“She was later downgraded to non-life-threatening injuries,” the Fairfax County Police Department said.

The woman was 37 at the time of the crash, which was also survived without injury by her teenage daughter. Family members told Reston Now that she underwent multiple surgeries.

Identified as the suspected driver by police after detectives reconstructed the crash, Browne was initially arrested in January 2015 and charged with felony hit and run. Though his car was seized at the time of his arrest, he never showed up for a scheduled June 8, 2015 court date, according to the FCPD, which later learned that he had “fled the country.”

It’s unclear where Browne spent the past 11 years, but the FCPD says its detectives were notified on June 26 that he had been taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service at Dulles International Airport.

The FCPD confirmed that Browne is facing the same felony hit-and-run charge as before. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

A hit and run is a Class 5 felony in Virginia if the driver leaves the scene of a crash that resulted in death, injury or property damage over $1,000. A conviction could result in one to 10 years in prison or, if a jury or judge chooses, 12 months in jail with a fine of up to $2,500.
