It turns out that the replacement for Four Sisters at Mosaic District won’t be a restaurant after all.
Investment and financial advisory service Charles Schwab confirmed to FFXnow plans to open a new branch at 8190 Strawberry Lane, Suite 1 in Merrifield. That’s the former location of Vietnamese restaurant Four Sisters, which closed in May 2023 after 30 years.
Previously, Florida-based Hawkers Asian Street Food had filed to open in the space.
Charles Schwab has nearly 400 U.S. locations, including ones in Tysons and Reston.
“The branch will provide investors access to Schwab’s full range of services, including brokerage, wealth management, financial planning and personalized financial guidance from local professionals,” a spokesperson said. “The new location is part of Schwab’s broader branch expansion as we continue to invest in markets where clients are choosing to live, work and build wealth.”
In other Mosaic District news, Alta Strada permanently closed on July 25. The outpost along Strawberry Park was Alta Strada’s last in the D.C. area after its original Mount Vernon Square restaurant unexpectedly shuttered in November 2024.
In recent months, the mixed-use development welcomed the health food spot Pura Vida (8296 Glass Alley), the body-sculpting spa The Tox (2980 District Avenue, Suite 150), and a showroom for the custom rug brand Ernesta (2920 District Avenue, Suite 145).
A vendor at FreshFarm’s year-round farmers market has also announced plans to open. Toimoi Bakery is seeking to open a brick-and-mortar location in early 2027, co-owner Gabriel Santos told FFXnow. Toimoi will take over a 540-square-foot storefront (at 2985 District Avenue, Unit 170) occupied by Falafel, Inc. The fast-casual falafel eatery, meanwhile, is aiming to move to a bigger space directly across from Barnes & Noble in the fall.
